Q: Why isn't SSL used on this site?
A: Typically, Secure Socket Layer (SSL) is used on sites that maintain
private information, such as credit card numbers, passwords, or other
personnel information. It is important to note that SSL does not provide
absolute protection. Interested users should visit the US-CERT web site for
additional information on the proper use of SSL.
While we do require CSSP training users to register, we neither collect
nor store private or personal information. The information you provide
when you register (name, email address, and password) is used by the
system to allow you to complete the training in multiple sittings, rather
than all at once. The system doesn't validate the registration information
you enter, nor is this information shared (see the security and privacy
notice).
Q: What is my password protecting?
A: The email address and password you provide are used by the training
system to uniquely identify you so that the system can save your place in
the course. The user IDs and passwords in this system are used for course
registration, not the protection of information. If you leave the site
before completing a course, the system will mark the lesson page you were
on when you exited and take you back to that page when you return.
Note: As a security precaution, please do not use the same
password that you use to protect important information.
Q: How do I ask more questions?
A: Please email CSSP@hq.dhs.gov with
the subject line "On Line Training." We do value and read all input. While
we can't answer every email question individually, we greatly appreciate
that you took the time to contact us.
